Dowels Delight
Thanks Anthony for sending over the write -up & photos from the week-end.
all were caught between 8pm to 6am using frankfurter and snail frozen baits I was simply chopping 1 down as a hook bait sometimes adding artificial corn and then breaking 6 to 8 up (boillies) into little pieces and putting them into a mesh bag and casting them towards either Lilly's or other features. I was resting my swim through the hours of midday until 5pm were i would go and get freshend up and a good cooked meal but after that it was back to the arches. Overall I fished 2 nights and 2 mornings on the arches managed 7 tench 4 to 6 1/2lb and 4 carp 17 to 18 1/2lb all on frankfurter and snail baits including the tench, who were only showing up early hours of the morning 4am then they would quiet down about 11am but they were great fun and kept it interesting when the carp were quiet so all in all a great weekend can't wait to go back. Good week for Damien & family + PB for Grandad !!
Thanks for sending us this write -up & photos Damien, pleased you all had a good stay.
Hello Paul & Val
A quick thanks for another great week fishing.I know its a bit delayed but got caught up with moving house.
We came up from 30th May and the 3 of us (Grandad, Mum and myself) were in the lodge, we fished
the lodges pegs mostly for the week, With my Grandad and Mum targeting
the roach and tench, both caught vast numbers of roach averaging around
3/4 pound, with plenty at the 1 1/2 pound mark (
all caught on either maggot/caster or soft pellet), with several tench
each day largest of which was 7 lb, and Grandad had his personal best
carp at 19.6 lb on white chocolate boilie.
I
concentrated on the carp, and managed to land towards 30 fish, with
the majority of them being in the high teens, largest for the week was
24.2 lbs, I was using white chocolate boilie as my hook bait over a
scattering of tropical and peach and black pepper boilie. Dusk was the
most productive part of the day with both my rods going within moments
of each other on several occasions. I also managed a 14lb pike which
took my boilies on the retrieve.
As a
bonus bit of fun each afternoon we had pike move into our swim trying to
get a free meal from our feet as we put the roach back, so we decided
to try spinning for them and had a couple each afternoon, lots of fun
with them tail walking and a larger size than i expected from 2 inches
from them bank, largest on spinner was 16lb.
Thanks again and see you again.

Steve's Super Week
Thanks to Steve & Jean Beardshaw for sending us over these photos. Steve & Jean are regular visitors to the Lonsdale.
Hi Paul and Val,
Just a quick email to say what a brilliant week we’ve just had with
you.
Steve caught 32 carp, all but one in double figures, the heaviest being
24.8lbs and five tench.
We used mainly Lonsdales Tutti frutti – and whereas normally we catch the
majority at night this time the catches were spread fairly evenly throughout the
twenty four hour period.
Have enclosed pictures of some of Steves catches,
See you again in September,
kind regards Jean and Steve

Kenny Hall's Catch Report - a Red Letter Roach Evening
Having to return to normality this morning Kenny was very happy to leave us with the following report from last week:
He'd been fishing along from his usual swim (Lilly pad city) to fish the margins to the right and left from Wynn's peg on the point of Lonsdale. Fishing just a few feet out and tight to the margins over the week he landed 11 carp to 18lbs, and 8 others were lost at the net, not to mention the 15 Tench! All of which were taken on variety of Lonsdale Boillies including our shelf life strawberry and frozen flavours.
That would have made Kenny happy in itself but Lonsdale decided to put on one of those very special evenings we sometimes see with our famous silver fish.
Having returned from a lovely meal at our local village Pub (The Lowther Arms) at around half past five, Kenny settled a waggler into the margins with a big flake of bread hoping to tempt some more Tench to the net. However the first decisive take revealed one of our Roach around 1 1/2lbs to be the hungry culprit. In just 2 and a half hours Kenny netted 20 quality Lonsdale Roach between 1 1/2lbs and 2 1/4lbs - all of which were very aggressive in the take! Accompanied by Arthur who stopped his own efforts to watch this magic session the boys weighed several of the fish to make sure they really could believe their eyes!
Both chaps have been regular visitors to Lonsdale over the last 15 years, but this Red Letter Roach session will live long in the memory. Back for another visit in August I'm sure we'll have another interesting catch report later in the summer.
